Welcome
Welcome to Gone Gardening with Leah! We are an indigenous owned business in Toronto, Ontario Canada. We are unique in that we are an actual 6000 square feet flower farm on the border of Toronto itself at The Village at Black Creek and are TTC accessible. We also have one of the best dahlia collections in Canada, with many of the rarest unicorns of all.
Garden tours will be available at a later date to be determined, we are still trying to figure out dates with Black Creek. We will also be doing workshops and events with Black Creek Pioneer Village. Our seeds will be available through their gift shop in March 2025. Other news is coming!
We practice Mother earth friendly growing practices, using mostly natural ingredients or predator species for pest control. We sanitize our snips when cutting and we hand dig all of our dahlia tubers, to help prevent the spread of disease. We try our best to give you the most healthiest plants possible.
We are members of CCDS, ADS, HDCDS and a few other acronyms. We are involved in our local dahlia society, through donating products like tubers and flowers, and competing.
We are licensed to sell KA's varieties for Canada and pay royalties to Kristine Albrect, as well as working on royalty agreements with other hybridizers. We feel that offering royalties to dahlia hybridizers honours their hard work and the amount of time and money that they pour into creating new varieties. Hybridizers are partially artists and partially scientists and should be allowed to benefit from their creations.
We are also trialing seedlings for several farms from the United States and operate on a collaborative basis. As a former social worker, I understand that the biggest part of gardening is that we are a community that is generous and full of knowledge that I have benefited from. My intention is to honour those traditions and build on them.
Our main crop is dahlias but are working on a few other collections, like seeds and irises. We offer pick up bouquet subscriptions, bouquet bars and garden tours. We also have wholesale flowers available for those interested, please contact us for a price list and availability.
In addition to our other memberships, we are also members of The Local Flower Collective, offering fresh, chemical free flowers to the Greater Toronto Area.
On top of everything else, we are also involved in our local community through projects like starting a seed bank at our children's school, donating food to our local food bank and assisting Topcliff Public School win a TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Grant. We will be installing a pollinator garden in September 2024 and will be documenting the process for TD Bank's promotional material. Look for Gone Gardening with Leah in City of Toronto, TDSB and TD Bank social media!
If you are interested in following us on social media my Facebook page is Gone Gardening and our Instagram handle is @Gonegardeningwithleah. I post more on Instagram, more announcements are done there than anywhere else.
